"Don’t even waste your time trying to use the pre-installed Adobe Reader LE on the Nokia E90. Adobe Reader LE 1.5.0 as delivered by Nokia is rather useless. I tried to tax the system a bit by wanting to read a 900+ page book. No chance: the no memory error initially gave me a bit of a shock, as I was under the impression that the E90 should be up to the task. Going down the list, I selected smaller and smaller files, finally giving up in frustration after being unable to view a 600Kb PDF.

Luckily, there’s a link to the Quickoffice Quickmanager in the Office folder on the desktop. Make no mistake: if you can master the art of making a software purchase seamless, error-free and quick, you’ve got a deal! The Quickmanager has a link to a newer version of the Adobe Reader LE recommended by a fellow E90 user. I’ve rarely seen such a smooth and hassle-free purchasing application on a mobile device: show price (ZAR 103), request permission to download, download, request credit card details and install. It made the trivial act of spending some money on a normally free application almost pleasurable! Even better, after the installation the new Adobe Reader LE version 2.5 has absolutely no issue displaying the 40MB file.

The Quickoffice-optimized version of the Adobe Reader LE is certainly up to the task and handles almost all files I’ve thrown at it without batting an eyelid. At times a bit slow when graphics are to be displayed, it’s made viewing PDF’s on the go a possibility. The quality and size of the E90’s screen is an obvious plus. I’ll probably spring for the update to Quickoffice based on my experience with this purchase…"
