Quickoffice® Joins Microsoft™ in Interop Vendor Alliance
Mobile office software provider to lend expertise and enhance products to support open standards
Dallas, Texas – April 3, 2008 – Quickoffice, the leading global provider of mobile office productivity software and services, today announced it has joined the Interop Vendor Alliance, a community of hardware and software vendors working together to enhance interoperability with Microsoft systems. Utilizing the Open XML translator, Quickoffice will test and build its mobile office suite on a variety of platforms and devices to improve interoperability.
Quickoffice will leverage its award-winning software and extensive experience as it continues work on the Document Interoperability Initiative. The new project brings independent software vendors together to test document compatibilities, allowing users to easily shift information between different applications. Quickoffice and other members of the alliance tested their solutions on a range of platforms, including Mac OS Leopard, iPhone, Palm OS, Symbian, Linux and Windows Mobile at the Microsoft Interoperability Lab in Boston, March 5-6, 2008.
"We are looking forward to serving as an instrumental contributor in this new collaborative community with Microsoft," said Paul Moreton, VP of product development. "By joining the Alliance, we hope to enhance our products’ interoperability with other leading Office Open XML applications."
As a member of the Alliance, Quickoffice will strive to have interoperability with all the other Alliance members. The Interop Vendor Alliance creates a collaborative forum where industry-leading developers can connect data and diverse systems to create enhanced interoperability with Microsoft technology. Everything from common technology models to assisted scenario-based testing of multi-vendor solutions are discussed, yielding best practices for both developers and end users.
"We are excited to have Quickoffice join the ranks of our Interop Vendor Alliance," said Sam Rosenbalm, Interop Vendor Alliance manager at Microsoft. "Quickoffice has an established reputation within the industry as an innovative leader that continues to maintain high standards and respond to the needs of their customers."
