About MobileFiles™ Pro
MobileFiles™ Pro allows you to take your files with you & access the iDisk® folder in your MobileMe® account directly from your iPhone® or iPod Touch®. In addition, MobileFiles Pro comes with the FIRST and ONLY true spreadsheet (Microsoft Excel® .xls) editor for the iPhone® and iPod Touch®.

If you are not a MobileMe subscriber, you cannot fully enjoy MobileFiles. You can only access your friend's public folders on their iDisk storage. You need your friend's member name and password (if they have password protected their public folders) to access your friend's public folders.

From the Home screen of MobileFiles, press the Edit button. Select Add Account and enter your MobileMe member name and password in the account details screen and press Save. Now you can access files on your iDisk storage from MobileFiles.
back to topConnecting to your friend's public folders
From the Home screen of MobileFiles, press the Edit button. Select Add Public Folder and enter your friend's MobileMe member name and press Save. If your friend's public folder is password protected you will be prompted for that password. Please enter the password and press Save. Now you can access your friend's public iDisk folder from MobileFiles.
back to topConnecting to multiple iDisk accounts
MobileFiles allows you to connect to several MobileMe iDisk accounts. From the Home screen of MobileFiles, press the Edit button. Select Add Account and enter the MobileMe member name and password in the account details screen and press Save. You can repeat this any number of times.
You can also connect to several public folders by following Add Public Folder item on the Home screen.

If your password for your MobileMe account has changed, you need to enter your new password. From the Home screen of MobileFiles, press the Edit button. Select the iDisk account and in the account details screen, enter the new password and press Save.

MobileFiles will list any files stored on your iDisk folders without any restriction. However, only the following file types can be viewed or played on the device.
- Images: .jpg, .jpeg, .png, .tif, .tiff, .gif and .svg
- Microsoft Word: .doc and .docx
- Microsoft Excel: .xls and .xlsx
- Microsoft PowerPoint: .ppt and .pptx
- iWork: Pages, Numbers and Keynote [iWork files can be viewed only with MobileFiles Pro]
- Adobe Acrobat: .pdf
- Web Pages: .htm and .html
- Web Archive: .mht
- Text: .txt
- Audio: .mp3
Viewing Large or Complex Documents
MobileFiles utilizes viewers present on your iPhone to view documents. This document viewer is used by many applications on your iPhone incuding the Mail application for viewing email attachments. At times, this viewer can crash or not respond when viewing large or complex documents.

Zooming:
When viewing documents, you can zoom in and out.Double-tap when viewing a file to zoom in. Double-tap again to zoom out.MobileFiles supports the familiar 2-finger pinch gesture to zoom in or out.
Scrolling:
To scroll around the file, simply tap and drag up, down, or sideways.Dragging your finger to scroll won't choose or activate anything on the screen.
Viewing files in Landscape orientation
MobileFiles will change the orientation of the document your are viewing based on the accelerometer sensor.
back to topCaching files for faster view
MobileFiles uses a cache to store recently downloaded & viewed files. You can adjust the size of the cache by pressing the Tools icon from the Main screen and selecting Cache Size. To clear the cache, from the main screen, press the Tools icon and select Clear Cache.

You can download a file and save it locally on your iPhone or iPod Touch simply by pressing the Download icon when you are viewing a file. Alternately, you can press the Gear icon on file list view, select the files you want to download and press the Download button.

You can create folders on your iPhone or iPod Touch to organize files that are downloaded. To create a new folder, simply navigate to the local storage ("On iPhone) and press the Edit button to make changes to that directory. To add a new folder, press the + icon and enter the name of the new folder.
With MobileFiles, You can only create new folders on your iPhone. You cannot create a new folder on your iDisk storage. However, with MobileFiles Pro, you can create new folder on your iDisk storage.

From the file list view on a local folder, press the Gear icon and select the files to be moved and press the Move button. From the list of local folders, select the destination folder. The selected files will be moved to the chosen destination folder.
Note: You can only move files on your iPhone. You cannot move files on your iDisk storage.

From the file list view on a local folder, press the Details icon to display the file details. You can tap on the file name to enter a new name.
With MobileFiles, you can only rename files on your iPhone. You cannot rename files on your iDisk storage. However, with MobileFiles Pro, you can rename files on your iDisk storage.

From the file list view on a local folder, press the Gear icon and select the files or folders to be deleted and press the Delete button.

Uploading files on 3G or on EDGE can be very slow. Typically, upload speeds are only a fraction of the download speeds. Use WiFi to upload your files quickly.

MobileFiles Pro allows you to easily transfer files from your PC/Mac to your iPhone and vice versa. You do not have to install any client software on your PC/Mac. You can use your favorite Internet Browser (such as FireFox, Safari, Internet Explore, Google Chrome) on your PC/Mac to transfer files.
Note: You cannot mount your iPhone as a drive on your PC/Mac using MobileFiles Pro.
back to topTransferring Files - A Step by Step Guide
1. Make sure you have turned on WiFi on your iPhone and your iPhone and PC/Mac are on the same WiFi network.
2. On your iPhone, start MobileFiles Pro and from the main screen, press Wi-Fi Desktop Connection. Verify that the icon next to the item is blue. It the icon is gray, it means that your iPhone is not on a WiFi connection.
3. You will see an http URL on your iPhone.
4. Now, on your PC/Mac, start your favortie Internet Browser and enter the address from Step 3.
5. Your PC/Mac is now connected to your iPhone. Now using the browser, you can upload files to your iPhone or download files from your iPhone
Uploading Files to your iPhone
To upload files to your iPhone, first connect your PC/Mac to your iPhone as described in "Transferring Files - A Step by Step Guide". Then click on the Upload Files button and click on the + icon to choose the file. You can add as many files as you want by pressing the + button. Once you had selected the files, press the Upload button to transfer the selected files. On your iPhone, you can see the progress of the transfer.
Note that the selected files will be added to the folder selected on the browser.

To download files to your PC/Mac, first connect your PC/Mac to your iPhone as described in "Transferring Files - A Step by Step Guide". Then from your browser, navigate the folder structure on your iPhone to the folder that contains the file you wish to download. Now, press the > icon next to the file, which displays the details of the file and provides a Download button. Press the Download button to download the file to your PC/Mac.

To create a new spreadsheet, launch MobileFiles Pro and select "On My iPhone". Then press the "New Spreadsheet" icon on the toolbar to launch the spreadsheet processor. Enter data into the cells as you would on your PC/Mac. Once done, press the Back button on the navigation bar. You will be presented with options to save the newly created spreadsheet.

MobileFiles Pro supports more than 125 built-in functions. To enter a function, press the fx button to launch the function picker. You can browse the list of supported functions by browsing the various categories. Select the function you want to use and the selected function is inserted in the formula.

MobileFiles Pro provides extensive capabilities to format cells. Select the Format toolbar button and then select Bold, Italics, Cell color or Font color to change the appearance of the selected cells. Select the Number Format toolbar button to change how the values are displayed.

You can resize row height or column width very easily. Press and hold the dividing area between the column headers to switch to the resizing mode. Now slide your finger across to increase or decrease the column width and once you have reached the desired width release your finger. Changing the height of a row is just as easy and similar to changing the column width.

MobileFiles Pro automatically saves your changes to a temporary file as you make edits. To save the changes, press the Back button and you will be presented with options to save or discard the changes. Press Save to save the changes to the file or Save as to save the changes to a new file or Discard changes to lose all changes made to the XLS file.
